Traghetti & Vaporetto Routes in Venice Italy

Traghetto in Venice Italy, Gondola in Venice Italy, Traghetto Santa Sofia Venice
Tip: Try a Traghetto!  Traghetti are gondolas used exclusively to ferry passengers back and forth across the Grand Canal. They are strategically located at points between the four main bridges crossing the canal. A traghetto ride costs 1.50 euros or 50 cents with an imob card. Traghetti are a fun and convenient way to get around without fighting through the foot traffic on the four bridges.  And, of course, they're also the least expensive gondola ride you can get!

Or, Try a Boat of Another Number!   Venetians call the Number 1 boat line "Cane Piscione" ("Pissing Dog") because it makes every stop along the Grand Canal. Line 1 is the most popular with tourists for the same reason; It seems easiest to take the boat that makes every stop. But, the Line 1 boats move slowly and, especially in the summer months, they are extremely crowded. There are express line boats in Venice. To save time, and possibly get yourself some breathing room, check the signs at the boat stop for other lines that go to your destination.
